A Mother’s (Day) Dream for Three Daughters
Written by an Immigrant Mother Seeking Asylum (while incarcerated in family detention)
My hopes and dreams are
for my three daughters…
I want them to be safe.
I want them to be happy.
I want them to be with persons who care for them…
…who respect them
…who love them
…always.
I want my daughters to be able to study.
I do not want much for me…
…I prefer that mine would be
…for my daughters.
I only ask for my daughters to have freedom…
…to play
…to study
…to leave this place.
I do not want my daughters to be locked up.
I want them to be free…
…to come and go
…to know many places
…to be free.
I want my daughters to be happy.
